Jeremy Reed is a Ph.D student in the Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University – Bloomington. Prospectively, his research will focus on music festivals in the Middle East, emphasizing the performance of place/space and understanding music festivals as forums for exploring social and political action. Jeremy has been a student of percussion and rhythm for over a decade. His performance experience is hilariously far-ranging, including: Middle Eastern and Eastern European music ensembles, Javanese Gamelan, Western Symphonic Orchestras, a funk covers band, and an extreme metal band. A firm believer in the universality of food and music Jeremy has spent his lifetime, thus far, exploring the world through his ears and his stomach, collecting different sounds, tastes and smells.
